Alchemist House
A personal study in stylised, physically based art, made for fun and based on a concept by Toma Naguliak. I made it to practise PBR materials on a stylised subject, and the images were captured in Unity.
The house is one tall shape: a purple plank roof sweeping up into a stone collar topped by a large green glass bottle. A wooden stopper on the side trails a coiled glass tube, and a cream stone chimney patched with red brick carries a small flask letting out a curl of smoke. Around the base are an arched red door with stone steps, a market stall with potion bottles, a crate and a chest, purple crystals and a small wooden tub on legs.
The study is in the materials: worn paint on the planks, chipped stone, glass that catches the light and translucent crystals, all on simple, readable shapes. The house sits on a green chequered lawn among rounded bushes, seen from a high camera with a soft depth of field. One image is a slightly different colour version. I modelled it in 3ds Max and textured it in Substance Painter, and the study improved my existing workflow.
