Tokyo Diorama

A work-in-progress diorama inspired by a visit to Tokyo, built and captured in Unity. It is one street corner cut out as a block on a plain grey background: a strip of tiled pavement, a stretch of road with a white line and blue-and-white barrier rails, and underneath, a cut-away of the brick-lined channel below the street.

Most of the work is in the props. Against orange render chipped back to brick stand a utility pole with a transformer and sagging cables, an air-conditioning unit, conduit and meter boxes, a green awning with characters on its flaps, a green neon sign, a framed God Eater poster and a red drinks vending machine. At street level are a lattice sliding door, umbrellas in a tub, cardboard boxes, a potted plant with a coiled hose, steel bins, a decorated manhole cover and a yellow barrel dripping green slime.

Close-ups with a shallow depth of field show the wear on the tiles, the timber door and the barrel. When I posted it I still had a few things to add. The assets were made in 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Photoshop before going into Unity.
