Haribo Childhood

A personal rendering and material study, done one Sunday as a self-learning exercise while I was moving my workflow from Octane to Arnold. The gummy bears gave me a way to experiment with more complex materials and compare the two workflows: a heap of them in red, dark red, orange, yellow and green, each one translucent, with light passing through so the thinner edges glow.

I found Arnold much easier to work with, especially for more advanced materials like skin, milk or a gummy bear. Octane was still the faster of the two, and its Color Response was my favourite feature.

There are two images of the same pile from the same camera, with a few bears scattered off the top, both rendered in Octane: one darker with a heavy vignette, one lighter and more even. I built the scene in 3ds Max.
