GB Luminaire Shop
A shop for GB Luminaire, a small studio in north London that casts and finishes sculptural outdoor lights by hand. I designed the boards and built the site: the home page, the Lithic and Valir collections, a page for each piece, bespoke commissions, the about page, a basket, search and the order and policy pages.
The look is quiet on purpose. Warm grey paper, Cormorant Garamond headlines in lower case, small DM Sans labels, white chips laid over the photographs and one terracotta colour kept for the action that matters. The photographs do the work, so the pages give them room. The motion follows the same idea: the home photograph warms up like a dimmed light coming on, pages dissolve into each other, text settles into place and hovers are slow. All of it switches off for visitors who ask for reduced motion.
On a product page the sizes, photographs and accordions change in place, without a page load, and the address updates so Back still works. The desktop layout is the 1440 px board scaled to the screen, the tablet and phone layouts restack it, and on a phone the menu becomes a list of large serif names. Underneath it is plain HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript with no libraries and no outside requests: self-hosted fonts, responsive WebP photographs and 12 KB of CSS and script once compressed. Lighthouse scores performance at 99 to 100.
